An overarching objective of this farm, a private not-for-profit initiative, is to provide visitors a rich experience of organic living amidst an Indian cultural backdrop. Urbanites will find appeal in a brief respite from their busy routines and experiencing rural life both to appreciate the beautiful landscape and the hard labor that ultimately yields the farm produce for the city markets. The farm’s proponent would like your visit to this place to be an enjoyable and memorable experience.

During your visit, you can enjoy a walk, accompanied by colorful and exotic native butterflies, amidst the lush green paddy fields and adjoining fruit trees. Take a break during these walks to enjoy a fresh tender coconut to refresh yourself. You can also observe practices of sustainable agriculture, including biogas generation from agricultural waste. You can always retire to the house that has an unmistakable ethnic ambience, highlighted by finely handcrafted Athangudi tiles and a traditional oonjal (swing).

            AGASTHIYAR VANAM is an integrated Organic Agricultural Farm of 5 Acres. It is about 40 KMs from Chennai on the way to Thirupathi.  One must take the Thirupathi Road via Karanodai (NH 16) and turn left after the Karanodai Toll at the junction of Janapanchathiram, Red Hills.  From here, travel till Kannigaipair and take the left, from where it is hardly 3 KMs. It is a four large rooms Modern FARM House.

What is so special about it?

• An ideal location for a family to have a weekend break free.

• It has four bed rooms with attached bath.

• Out of the four bed rooms, two in the Ground Floor are provided with Air Conditioners and rooms in the First Floor are most enjoyable without AC.

• The rooms are individually rented out and the entire house can also be  booked with a concession.

• The rooms are so designed that one sees only the greenery through the Glass Panes.

• There is no Window or Grill.

• There is three phase power supply with Solar Power and there is Wifi connection with very good speed.

• There is a TV in the Main Hall.

• It has a kitchen and your food requirement (only Vegetarian) is adequately taken care of.

• The place is surrounded by lush green fields mainly growing paddy.

• Children can watch milking of Cows, climbing of coconut trees, rearing of Honey Bees,  play shuttlecock, carrom board or chess or cycling.

• You can have your morning and evening coffee from fresh cow milk.

• Almost all the vegetables used for cooking are from the garden in AgarsthiyarVanam.

• There is sufficient parking space for  Cars.

• While returning, one may even buy a bag of rice (organically grown) from the Farm and also some Vegetables.

• If one is religiously inclined, then a trip to ‘SURUTTAPPALI” is a must.  It is 30 KMs from the Resort. It is here that Lord Shiva is in a reclining posture and else wherein the World  Lord Shiva is depicted in Lingam Form.  There are four Vaishnavite Temples within a distance of 100 KMs and all are administered by ThirumalaiThirupathiDevasthnam.
